Gary M. Lavergne, UT admissions officer, will discuss his new book, Before Brown: Heman Marion Sweatt, Thurgood Marshall, and the Longroad to Justice. Lavergne's account chronicles Sweatt's life and struggles as the plaintiff in Sweatt vs. Painter (1950), thereby honoring his courage and determination.
